Fighting for UAF and Protecting our University
Adam knows how important the University of Alaska and UAF are to our economy. He is a proud UAF alumnus, and every year he has led the charge to defend the University from cuts that would cripple higher education in Alaska. The University has recently been under extreme pressure both from the Dunleavy cuts and now from the Covid-19 pandemic. We can’t let our University be diminished any further and we need to help them move in the right direction. Certainly, like any large organization, there is room for improvement but now more than ever they need our guidance and assistance. Adam wants to see as much funding as possible focused on the University’s core missions of education, research, and service and believes politicians should not be trying to micro-manage the University. As a community, we rallied to save Eielson Air Force Base and bring the F-35s to the Interior, and we will continue to rally our community to save UAF.
Supporting our Local Schools
As a parent of two girls in neighborhood schools, education is personal to Adam. As a former business owner, he knows that investing in education is the best way to grow our economy. Alaskan businesses cannot succeed without educated Alaskans to work at them. He will continue to be a strong voice for Fairbanks schools. They face challenges like never before and we need to fully support them.
Keeping Our Kids Safe
Adam was proud to help pass Erin’s Law and Bree’s Law which will ensure students are educated about how to identify and prevent child sexual abuse and teen dating violence. He is glad that students across the state will learn age appropriate skills to keep themselves safe and learn who they can turn to. Alaska has a horrific rate of child sexual abuse and domestic violence, and he was glad the state took this step to make our children safer. Now with the Covid Crisis upon us, we need to continue to protect our kids and make sure they get quality education.
